RCII was established in 1991 on recommendation of then minister of industries in order to promote and develop national technology, its infrastructures, technical know-how and quality of supplied, imported and exported products and services in areas like electricity, electronics and relevant industries.
All 53 RCII shareholders have acquired either manufacturing or exploitation certificates from ministry of industries or hold the permit from Iran High Council of Informatic.
As a rule, any company holding an exploitation certificate under software or hardware categories may become a shareholder of RCII.
Previous achievements:
-RCII is accepted as the acting technical expert for department of electricity and electronics in ministry of industries.
- In 1990s RCII was authorized to inspect the imported goods and issue conformity certificates for those which corresponded with the declared proformas and CKD table approved by the ministry of industries for imported merchandise.
-Authorized to issue inspection certificates of imported goods by sending trained personnel to the entry points and compare the goods against the approved proformas.
- Checking the production lines of the factories manufacturing CKD products and pinpointing the faults and giving advice for correcting the production line.
- Reporting the statistics of imported and inspected goods to the ministry of industries.
- Organizing workgroups of experts to determine the proper customs tariffs of IT equipment..
- Attending the scientific and professional NGO gatherings.
- Preparing national and in-house standards for ICT equipment.
- Establishing specialized laboratories for safety, EMC and TCO tests.
- Supervising large IT projects.
- Offering consultations for large IT projects
- Acquiring international certificates.
- Granting of quality logo for IT equipment.
- Holding specialized training courses in IT.
- Development and promotion of modern applied technologies.
